United Methodist Women

Who is this for?

This group is for women of all ages.

What is this?

The United Methodist Women (UMW) are women that get together to enjoy fellowship (talking, snacking and worship) with a purpose to serve by supporting various mission projects, community groups and our local church.

We have participants volunteer to host the monthly programs and refreshments.

Each year in November we hold a Pledge to Mission service at which time pledges are made by our members to send to the Western North Carolina Conference for mission projects. In addition we usually have two or three fund raising meals per year to donate money for local mission projects.

Some of the Organizations we have contributed to are Life Span, Dove House, Hospice of Iredell Co., Serenity House, 5th Street Ministries, Shepherds School, Children of Promise International with Rev. Roger Lai of Hong Kong and local physician Dr Aubrey Calhoun who works with the Honduras Baptist mission from Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia. They provide both physical and spiritual care to the people of Honduras.

The UMW also do special projects to benefit our own congregation. We sponsor two Blood Drives each year. Another thing that we do is to mail birthday cards to our Nursing home patients and shut ins.

How do I join?

Just show up. We have a seat ready for YOU!

When is the meetings?
